Calvert-Lewin rescues a point as Leeds fight back at Elland Road
Leeds United were forced to settle for a point against Brentford at Elland Road, but showed plenty of character to fight back from a first-half deficit.
Kevin Schade put Brentford ahead before half-time, leaving Leeds with plenty to do after the break. The Whites struggled to find their rhythm in the opening 45 minutes, but a tactical change at half-time sparked a much-improved performance.
Leeds came out with greater intensity after the interval and began to put Brentford under sustained pressure. The home side created several opportunities as Elland Road grew increasingly frustrated and desperate for an equaliser.
That pressure eventually paid off when Dominic Calvert-Lewin found the net in the closing stages, reacting quickest to bring Leeds level and send the home supporters into celebration.
The Whites pushed for a winner in the final minutes, but Brentford held firm to claim a point.
Although Leeds will be disappointed not to have taken all three points on home soil, the second-half response was a major positive. The fight shown by the players and the impact of the tactical changes will give Leeds plenty of encouragement going forward.
