Uncertainty is continuing to grow around Joel Piroe’s future at Leeds United as the club prepares for a crucial summer window.
Piroe arrived at Elland Road in Daniel Farke’s first season in charge in 2023, bringing with him a strong reputation after finishing as the EFL Championship’s top goalscorer in the 2024/25 season. He played a key role in a historic campaign, as Leeds won the Championship title with 100 points and scored an impressive 95 goals. Piroe contributed 21 of those goals, including a standout performance on Easter Monday 2025, when he scored four times in a dominant 6–0 victory over Stoke City.
However, expectations following promotion have not fully been met. In the Premier League, Piroe has struggled for both form and consistent minutes, finding it difficult to establish himself in Daniel Farke’s preferred system.
A major factor behind his reduced role has been increased competition. Free transfer arrivals Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have both moved ahead of Piroe in the pecking order, limiting his opportunities and making it increasingly difficult for him to regain a regular starting spot.
Despite this, Leeds are not actively pushing Piroe towards the exit door. He remains a useful squad option, particularly given the need for depth in attacking areas—something that could become even more important if Leeds were to win the FA Cup and qualify for European football.
That said, interest in Piroe is beginning to build. Brentford, Rangers and Burnley are all reportedly keen on securing his signature this summer, which could present Leeds with a decision if formal offers arrive.
With Leeds expected to be active in the transfer market, potential sales may be necessary to fund new additions, and Piroe is among the players whose situation could evolve depending on incoming business.
For now, his future remains finely balanced. A proven goalscorer, Piroe faces a key period ahead as he looks to either fight his way back into Leeds United’s plans or consider a move elsewhere in search of regular football.
